Code of Conduct and Child Protection Notice –Parkvale FC
ParkVale FC Football Club abides by Childrens First Act 2015. Under this Act, the Club has a statutory responsibility to report any suspected abuse or neglect to relevant statuory authorities. For more information on Childrens First Act and statutory reporting see www.tusla.ie. The Designated Liaison Persons are Emma Freeman (Child Welfare Liaison Officer) and Adam Berber (Chair). If you have any concerns around child welfare please contact Emma in the first instant.
The aim of ParkVale FC Football Club is to provide all players at our club with the maximum opportunities to develop their footballing ability to its full potential.
This will be achieved with the full co-operation of Managers/Coaches, Players and Parents in a safe and friendly environment.
1] Code of Conduct for Managers/Coaches
1.1 – Managers/Coaches will show respect for all players and officials and lead by example.
1.2 – Be fully prepared for coaching sessions and matches. (Including First-Aid, Kit, etc.).
1.3 – Ensure a safe environment for learning and development.
1.4 – Managers/Coaches to keep themselves up to date with new ideas on coaching and development.
1.5 – Encourage each player in terms of self-discipline, good behaviour and punctuality.
1.6 – Be self-critical and not afraid to seek assistance.
1.7 – Have completed Safeguarding Level 1 Training and report any concerns to the Child Welfare Liaison Officer
1.8 – Liaise with parents.
1.9 – Ensure that all players are aware that all forms of bullying will not be tolerated.
1.10 – Be generous with your praise when it is deserved.
1.11 – Managers/Coaches must always display high standards of behaviour and appearance.
1.12 All unnecessary data (i.e past players information) will be destroyed in accordance with GDPR guidelines

2.1 – Always show respect for team-mates, managers/coaches, opponents and officials.
2.2 – Always turn up on time for matches and training.
2.3 – Always play to win but accept defeat like proper sportsmen.
2.4 – Always have commitment to your club and pride in your performance.
2.5 – Ensure that your lifestyle helps rather than hinders your progress.
2.6 – Arrive for training and matches with the proper gear and boots.
2.7 – Listen to advice given and ask questions if you don’t understand.
2.8 – Help out with equipment before and after matches and training.
2.9 – Let the manager know, as soon as possible, if you are injured or sick.
2.10 – Bullying will not be tolerated and if you feel you are being bullied feel safe to tell the manager.
2.11 – Enjoy playing and training with ParkVale FC.
3] Code of Conduct for Parents
3.1 – Always show respect for all players, opponents, managers/coaches and officials.
3.2 – Have realistic expectations for your son/daughter and don’t put him/her under undue pressure.
3.3 – Ensure that your son/daughter arrives on time for training and matches and that safe arrangements
are in place for getting your son/daughter home afterwards. This information should be given to the coach/manager.
3.4 – Leave coaching to the coaches.
3.5 – Respect the managers/coaches decisions.
3.6 – Assist when asked.
3.7 – Accept disappointment, praise good work and refrain from criticising.
3.8 – Support the club’s fund-raising activities where possible and ensure subscriptions are paid.
3.9 – If your son/daughter requires hospital treatment a parent must attend.
3.10 – Emphasise skill development and practice over winning and how they benefit your child
(and other children/players). De-emphasise games and competition in the lower age groups.
3.11. Parents are required to provide the club with all relevant material pertaining to their child including medical forms and contact details; signed code of conduct and signed GDPR forms.

10) Use of Social Media, Photography and Video Material
10.1 Parents are responsible for not putting up video or photographic material of minors other than their own children on Social Media or any other communication form that will be seen publicly without the explicit consent of the minors parents/guardian.
10.2 Parents/Coaches/Committee Members should never behave in a negative manner on Social Media toward any child. Parent, coach or Committee Member. Nor should any Club Member behave in a manner on social media that will bring the club into disrepute.
10.3 No child or young person should engage on Social Media in a manner that is going to cause upset to any other child or young person. If a situation arises, parents have responsibility for policing their child’s Social Media use.
* Social Media includes networking apps such as Facebook, Instagram and instant messaging apps including Snapchat and Whatsapp.
